We had a crazy week last week in Hopedale, Louisiana! ! The weather cooperated and we were able to run a few charter fishing trips down on the bayou! We had three great trips all limiting out on redfish, two of the trips south Louisiana showed us her great side! Both trips hit 100 plus redfish a day, insane action from the first cast to the last cast! Our spring time fishing has showed up a little early this year and the fish are feasting uncontrollably. This pattern should stay true from now until may if we don't get a huge weather change. If you you want to see what sportsmans paradise is all about I would highly recommend getting down as soon as you can! Short boat rides and more than enough fish to catch right now!! We have a few openings for charter fishing this month and next if you want to experience this crazy action!

Fishing has been above average this month so far! We had a mild February with big southern winds which gave us a good migration of fish coming in from the gulf. The southern winds pushed a lot of water into our marsh the last two weeks and the fish followed. Water temperatures stayed in the 70 degree range and plenty of trout were brought back to our dock this week. The redfish have been steady all year with easy limits. I had a group in town today from Arkansas and the wind blew 30 mph out of the east, we still filled the box with an easy limit of reds. We have some dates available for March and April but our summer dates are few and far between. Give us a call to get on the books for a fishing trip of a lifetime!
Thanks, Capt. Britt Ordes Hopedale, Louisiana Inshore Fishing Charters The weather here in south Louisiana is about as crazy as our fishing!! The next two months both February and March can be some of the best fishing if the weather allows us to fish. With the cold water temperature our fish have to bunch together in massive schools to keep warm and find food to survive. This all leads up to massive fish catches in big numbers, When you find them!! They will be in huge schools ready to gorge themselves when you do find the fish.
Most of our fish are being caught on the nicer weather days. Sunny skies and water temperature in the mid to upper 50's we have been catching nice boxes of speckled trout. Anything less than that and zero trout. The redfish are being caught steady day in and day out as long as the water temps don't drop below 50 degrees. Like I said these next few months are very weather and temperature oriented so if you catch the right day it can be a great one! Capt. Britt Ordes This weeks fishing has been awesome. Hundreds of redfish being caught daily. Red fishing should continue to be great in the up coming months. Our speckled trout are becoming dormant with the cold water temperatures but during the bright warm sunny days there are plenty to be caught.
Also, don't forget about the Big Outdoor Charters Christmas gift cards. These make the perfect gift for your outdoorsy guys! Please contact Capt. Britt to reserve your gift card. 985-259-1801 Have a great rest of the week! As the temperatures drop and the water cools down our fishing down in hopedale Louisiana continues to get better! Our speckled trout are schooled up and making their migration throughout the interior marsh, this makes for easy pickings to fill the box with speckled trout. On the other hand our redfishing has been off the charts! It been a few years since we have seen this many redfish in the marsh! Days of 50 to 100 redfish catches have been very common here lately! My guess is that this is a sign the winter fishing is going to be insane! If you want to come down and experience this crazy action give us a call and see for yourself why we are called the fishing capitol of the world!
On a different note we are gearing up for big duck season that starts in two weeks. I've been building blinds and checking leases and we are already covered up in birds! As I type this report our largest cold front of the year is upon us and its only going to increase the number of birds we already have! We offer guided duck hunts here in south Louisiana along with our famous blast and cast combo for you hardcore hunting and fishing enthusiast. So if you like to fish, hunt, or do both come down to hopedale, LA and let Capt. Britt with The Big Outdoors Charters show you what sportsmans paradise is all about! Until then tight lines!! We have been very busy down on the bayou! Our last week of the summer teal season was phenomenal, the birds made a late appearance and allowed us to have several great hunts!!
Our fishing has been off the charts! We finally got the steady easterly winds and high tides which has forced all the shrimp and bait into our marsh and the fish have followed. Our redfishing has been easy pickings with catches of 50-100 redfish a day. The speckled trout are finally starting to get on a consistent pattern with good number being caught by our guides each day! I see positive signs for a banner fall and winter for both fishing and duck hunting. If you would like to book a fishing trip, duck hunt, or cast and blast with one of Hopedales finest guide services give Capt Britt a call! We guarantee a great time while making memories of a lifetime! As Capt. Britt says "come on down to hopedale and let us take you catching not fishing!" Capt. Britt Ordes Call: (985) 259-1801 It was a wet week here in Hopedale, Louisiana! A week of playing a game of chess with the summer squalls! It seemed every time you get the fish biting good the rain would run you in a different direction. It was a constant game of chess, making moves to keep the customers dry and fish flying in the boat. Besides the weather the fish did corporate and we had some great catches of speckled trout and redfish come back to the dock. We have one more solid week of charters trips going out and then we will be focusing on our summer teal season.
Capt. Britt Ordes The fishing here in Hopedale, Louisiana has been great as usual. Another great week in the books with lots of fish and happy customers coming back to the dock! Our speckled trout fishing has been off the charts and our yearly pogy run has finally showed up this week! For many that do not know this time of year the massive pogy run comes through hopedale and the giant bull reds follow! Schools of thousand upon thousands of pogys move in from the gulf into the outer bays of southeast Louisiana, massive schools of bull reds and jacks follow these pogies to feast upon. This means lots of big fish with chances of catching giant reds from the 25 to 40 lbs class! This running of the bulls as we call it, should last for the next few weeks.
As our summer season is coming to an end in the next few weeks, we will be switching gears getting our duck blinds ready for our summer blue wing teal hunts and gearing up for the fall and winter fishing. The summer season was a challenging but successful summer, but I have a feeling the winter is going to be a special one. If you would like to make a hunt or fish with us call Capt. Britt to book your trip. 985-259-1801 This week the fishing has been as hot as the weather here in South Louisiana!! The fishing this week in Hopedale, LA has been as good as it gets, I fished 6 out of the 7 days this week with limits of speckled trout on every trip except one. The weather is hot but the fish are gorging themselves the first few hours of the morning to keep up with the heat. All my groups this week wanted speckled trout so that was the primary target, but the red fishing has been just as good. We finally got a good dose of clean saltwater and a huge influx of bait fish with the big incoming tides this week, I foresee another awesome week of fishing still to come. If you would like to experience this hot action while it last call Capt. Britt to book a inshore fishing trip here in Southeast Louisiana, we have a few dates available before the end of the month.
Capt. Britt 985-259-1801 Saturday I had four guest from New Orleans on my boat Blake Bennett, Clay Degruy, Jay Morris, and Ben Kingsdorf. We almost canceled the trip due to the 60% chance of rain they had predicted but we opted to get a early start and try to beat the rain. We arrived at my first spot that I have been catching limits on every trip and it was a no go! cat fish and trash every cast. I noticed the water was dirty so we moved further south. Next stop we caught and released for a solid hour but it was every fish you could imgaine, trout, Ladyfish, sharks, mackeral, and catfish. We stayed with it becuase every third cast would be a trout and Ive learned the hard way in the past with no tide and your on somewhat of a bite stay with it cause it might be the only good bite you get on all day with no tide in the forcast! We managed about 30 trout in a hour and plenty of trash fish. After the bite finally died we made a move further south on the way we passed a weed line and a small rip and I was searching for a trippletail or two when I spotted a cobia working the grass line. I turned the boat on a dime and baited up with a live croaker and my guy threw right at him and bam hooked up wiyh a 40lb. cobia in 13 feet of water on light takle!! I used my offshore experience and made a bunch of racket and did a few tricks and up popped a second cobia! Now we talking doubled up on 40 to 50 class cobia on light tackle! We fought the cobia for about 25 minutes finally landing one and had the second break off. I went back to the spot again worked my magic and we where hooked up again!! Three cobia in no time. He finally broke the line in short manner! But it was fun while it lasted. Made a move to a rig nearby and caught another 20 or so big trout and what do you know another cobia on the line he was jumping, tailing and putting on a show until about 15 minutes into the fight he straightend the hook! Just one of those freak days when you run into a bunch of cobia wiht light tackle while fishing for trout and redfsih! But the guys had a blast and said it was a trip that will never be forgotten! We finished the day with 53 trout 1 for 4 on Cobia, 4 reds, and 2 black drum. With the box filled to the top we headed for the camp.
The fishing is just crazy right now in hopedale! The salinity is really high right now so you dont know what you might catch on any giving day like Saturday! We are catching plenty trout and the redfish are finally back in the marsh with non stop action on reds and drum! Give me a call and let me take you fish catchingI im Booked up for August but I still have some days in Sept. and Oct. I have a few teal hunts left open and they are going fast! I made a run throught the marsh satruday and already seeing big bands of teal so book your fishing trip or hunt/ Cast and Blast soon or you will miss out on the action! Capt.
