Hopedale, LA Spring Fishing Report

4/5/2019

Have you ever caught over 100 redfish in one day of fishing? Well, if you haven't right now is the time to be in Southeast Louisiana! The amount of fish that have moved into our marsh is astounding and I cant remember a spring that's been this good! Catches everyday are 100 plus fish, I had three clients in from south Florida this week for three days of fishing. They tallied over 250 redfish in three days!! Talk about soar arms and hands after all those fish! I'm not sure how long this bite will last but we are enjoying every bit of it while it lasts. If you want to join us in this spectacular action give us a call and we will guarantee a fishing trip of a lifetime! Above are a few pictures of the catches from this week in Hopedale, Louisiana with Capt. Britt Ordes and The Big Outdoors Charters.

The fishing has been off the charts this week! The fishing in Hopedale has been above and beyond its norm for this time of year! Our charter fishing fleet has been on the water non stop and everyday we are catching 100's of fish! Yes I said that right 100's a day on a single charter boat! The weather has been cooperating with us and the fish are loving it!! Plenty of giant bull reds have moved in with big numbers of speckled trout  too. I would normally say the fishing will get better as we move into April but it truly can't get any better than it is now! If you have always wanted to make that fishing trip of a lifetime to sportsman's paradise I would advise you to come now! Here are a few pictures from some trips this week!

We had a crazy week last week in Hopedale, Louisiana! ! The weather cooperated and we were able to run a few charter fishing trips down on the bayou! We had three great trips all limiting out on redfish, two of the trips south Louisiana showed us her great side! Both trips hit 100 plus redfish a day, insane action from the first cast to the last cast! Our spring time fishing has showed up a little early this year and the fish are feasting uncontrollably. This pattern should stay true from now until may if we don't get a huge weather change. If you you want to see what sportsmans paradise is all about I would highly recommend getting down as soon as you can! Short boat rides and more than enough fish to catch right now!! We have a few openings for charter fishing this month and next if you want to experience this crazy action!

Fishing has been above average this month so far! We had a mild February with big southern winds which gave us a good migration of fish coming in from the gulf. The southern winds pushed a lot of water into our marsh the last two weeks and the fish followed. Water temperatures stayed in the 70 degree range and plenty of trout were brought back to our dock this week. The redfish have been steady all year with easy limits. I had a group in town today from Arkansas and the wind blew 30 mph out of the east, we still filled the box with an easy limit of reds. We have some dates available for March and April but our summer dates are few and far between. Give us a call to get on the books for a fishing trip of a lifetime!

Thanks,

The weather here in south Louisiana is about as crazy as our fishing!! The next two months both February and March can be some of the best fishing if the weather allows us to fish. With the cold water temperature our fish have to bunch together in massive schools to keep warm and find food to survive. This all leads up to massive fish catches in big numbers, When you find them!!  They will be in huge schools ready to gorge themselves when you do find the fish.

Most of our fish are being caught on the nicer weather days. Sunny skies and water temperature in the mid to upper 50's we have been catching nice boxes of speckled trout. Anything less than that and zero trout. The redfish are being caught steady day in and day out as long as the water temps don't drop below 50 degrees. Like I said these next few months are very weather and temperature oriented so if you catch the right day it can be a great one!

This weeks fishing has been awesome. Hundreds of redfish being caught daily. Red fishing should continue to be great in the up coming months. Our speckled trout are becoming dormant with the cold water temperatures but during the bright warm sunny days there are plenty to be caught.

Also, don't forget about the Big Outdoor Charters Christmas gift cards. These make the perfect gift for your outdoorsy guys! Please contact Capt. Britt to reserve your gift card. 985-259-1801

Hopedale, LA Fishing Report & Preparing for Duck Season

11/2/2018

As the temperatures drop and the water cools down our fishing down in hopedale Louisiana continues to get better! Our speckled trout are schooled up and making their migration throughout the interior marsh, this makes for easy pickings to fill the box with speckled trout. On the other hand our redfishing has been off the charts! It been a few years since we have seen this many redfish in the marsh! Days of 50 to 100 redfish catches have been very common here lately! My guess is that this is a sign the winter fishing is going to be insane! If you want to come down and experience this crazy action give us a call and see for yourself why we are called the fishing capitol of the world!

On a different note we are gearing up for big duck season that starts in two weeks. I've been building blinds and checking leases and we are already covered up in birds! As I type this report our largest cold front of the year is upon us and its only going to increase the number of birds we already have! We offer guided duck hunts here in south Louisiana along with our famous blast and cast combo for you hardcore hunting and fishing enthusiast. So if you like to fish, hunt, or do both come down to hopedale, LA and let Capt. Britt with The Big Outdoors Charters show you what sportsmans paradise is all about! Until then tight lines!!

Hopedale Fishing & Duck Hunt Report by Capt. Britt Ordes

We have been very busy down on the bayou! Our last week of the summer teal season was phenomenal, the birds made a late appearance and allowed us to have several great hunts!!

Our fishing has been off the charts! We finally got the steady easterly winds and high tides which has forced all the shrimp and bait into our marsh and the fish have followed. Our redfishing has been easy pickings with catches of 50-100 redfish a day. The speckled trout are finally starting to get on a consistent pattern with good number being caught by our guides each day! I see positive signs for a banner fall and winter for both fishing and duck hunting. If you would like to book a fishing trip, duck hunt, or cast and blast with one of Hopedales finest guide services give Capt Britt a call! We guarantee a great time while making memories of a lifetime! As Capt. Britt says "come on down to hopedale and let us take you catching not fishing!"

We took a few days off away from fishing to fill some alligator tags with our clients and focus on teal season! We had great success filling all our alligator tags in short order, but the teal birds did not show up for the first few days of the season! Hopefully we can get a big push of birds this week.

While I was hunting alligators some of our guides stayed fishing and it has been hot and heavy action on redfish and a bit slower on the trout. Our trout have started the transition from the outer gulf edge into the marsh, so keeping on a consistent bite has been tough since the fish are moving so fast everyday. On a good note this has been the most shrimp and menhaden I've seen in the marsh in a very long time! I'm expecting the fall and winter fishing to be phenomenal with all the bait that has transitioned into the marsh already!

If you would like to fish or hunt with one of Hopedale's most experienced guide services give Capt Britt a call and book a trip of a lifetime.

Hopedale, Louisiana Inshore Fishing Report by Capt. Britt Ordes

It was a wet week here in Hopedale, Louisiana! A week of playing a game of chess with the summer squalls! It seemed  every time you get the fish biting good the rain would run you in a different direction. It was a constant game of chess, making moves to keep the customers dry and fish flying in the boat. Besides the weather the fish did corporate and we had some great catches of speckled trout and redfish come back to the dock. We have one more solid week of charters trips going out and then we will be focusing on our summer teal season.
